Frequently Asked Questions
Whether you're choosing your dog's first Jax & Bones bed or you've been part of our family for years, we're here to help. Below you'll find answers about choosing the right bed, fabrics, care, replacement pieces, shipping and more.
Choosing Your Jax & Bones Bed
What size bed should I order for my dog?
Each product page includes dimensions and weight recommendations to help guide your selection. These are recommendations only, as your dog's size, shape and sleeping style can all influence which bed feels most comfortable.
Dogs who love to curl up often enjoy a snugger fit, while dogs who stretch out may prefer a little extra room.
Helpful tip: Before ordering, use painter's tape to mark the bed's dimensions on your floor. It's an easy way to visualize how the bed will fit in your home and how much room your dog will have to lounge.
If your dog is between sizes, consider how they naturally sleep. Curlers may be comfortable in the smaller size, while stretchers usually appreciate sizing up.
Which Jax & Bones bed style is right for my dog?
The best bed is the one that fits the way your dog naturally likes to sleep. Here's a quick guide to our most popular styles:
Lounge Bed
A great all-around choice for dogs who love support around them. The raised sides create a comfortable place to curl up, lean, rest their head or settle in for a long nap. It's also one of our signature styles for customers looking for a substantial bed that feels at home alongside their furniture.
Donut Bed
Made for curlers, nesters and dogs who love feeling cozy and surrounded. Its rounded shape creates a soft, comforting space that's especially inviting for dogs who naturally sleep curled into a ball.
Napper Bed
A versatile, streamlined option for dogs who change positions throughout the day. With an open sleeping surface, it's easy to step onto and gives dogs room to curl, lounge or stretch out.
Pillow Bed
Ideal for dogs who love to sprawl. The generous open surface gives them plenty of room to stretch without raised sides getting in the way.
Memory Foam Bed
A supportive option for dogs who prefer a firmer sleeping surface or may benefit from additional cushioning and support. Memory foam can be especially comfortable for larger dogs, senior dogs and dogs who spend a lot of time resting.
Still not sure? Consider your dog's favorite sleeping position and where the bed will live in your home. Our team is also happy to help you choose a style and size.
What makes Jax & Bones beds different?
We've been designing beds for dogs and the homes they share with us since 2004.
Jax & Bones beds bring together thoughtful design, skilled craftsmanship and carefully selected upholstery-grade fabrics with comfort designed for everyday life with dogs.
We're also the home of the Original EcoBed™, created with our signature recycled-bottle fiber fill to provide soft, supportive comfort while giving discarded materials a second life.
Many of our bed styles feature removable, machine-washable covers and replaceable inserts, allowing you to refresh individual components rather than replace the entire bed.
Our approach has always been simple: create products dogs love that people are happy to have in their homes.
The result is a bed designed to be loved, lived in and enjoyed for years.
What is inside a Jax & Bones EcoBed™?
Our Original EcoBed™ uses a soft, supportive fiber fill made in the USA from recycled plastic bottles.
The recycled material is processed and transformed into comfortable fiber fill, giving plastic a second life while creating the loft and cushioning dogs love.
It's one of the ways we've approached thoughtful product design since 2004: creating comfort for dogs while making more responsible choices about the materials we use.
For specific material or allergy-related questions, please contact our team before purchasing.
Are your products made in the USA?
Yes. Jax & Bones dog bedding is proudly handcrafted in the USA.
Since 2004, we have worked with skilled craftspeople and carefully selected materials to create premium bedding designed for comfort, durability and life in the home.
Our bedding is produced in small batches with close attention to construction, filling, finishing and quality control. Some products may require additional production time before shipment.
Caring for Your Jax & Bones Bed
How long should a Jax & Bones bed last?
Every dog and household is different, so there isn't one specific lifespan for a dog bed. However, Jax & Bones beds are thoughtfully designed with longevity in mind.
Over the years, we've heard from longtime customers who have enjoyed their Jax & Bones beds for many years and have returned to us when it was finally time for another.
Many of our beds feature removable, washable covers and replaceable inserts, allowing you to refresh individual components over time rather than replacing the entire bed.
It's part of our belief that making something well and making it last is one of the most meaningful ways we can reduce our paw print.
How do I wash my Jax & Bones bed?
Most Jax & Bones bed covers are removable and machine washable.
Unless otherwise noted in the care instructions for your particular bed or fabric, we generally recommend:
- Use a front-loading washing machine
- Wash on a gentle cycle
- Use cold water and mild detergent
- Tumble dry on low
Avoid top-loading machines with agitators, which may damage fabrics and zippers.
Always refer to the care instructions for your specific product and fabric before washing.
Helpful tip: Close all zippers before washing and make sure the cover is completely dry before placing it back on the insert.
How often should I wash my dog's bed?
How often you wash your dog's bed depends on your dog's activity level, shedding, lifestyle and how much time they spend outdoors.
For many households, washing the removable cover every 2–4 weeks helps keep the bed fresh and looking its best.
Dogs who spend a lot of time outdoors, shed heavily or share their bed with other pets may benefit from more frequent washing.
Can I purchase a replacement cover for my Jax & Bones bed?
Replacement covers may be available for select Jax & Bones bed styles, sizes and fabrics.
Because our fabric collections evolve over time, the exact fabric from your original bed may no longer be available. If that's the case, our team can help you find a current fabric that works with your existing insert and complements your home.
Please contact jbpack@jaxandbones.com with your bed style, size and, if known, the original fabric name, and we'll be happy to help.
Can I order replacement inserts or parts?
Yes. One of the benefits of owning a Jax & Bones bed is the ability to refresh it rather than replace the entire bed.
We offer replacement inserts for many of our bed styles. If you don't see the replacement you need online, contact jbpack@jaxandbones.com and our team will be happy to help.
When contacting us, including your bed style, size and approximate purchase date can help us identify the correct replacement.
Are Jax & Bones beds chew-proof?
No pet bed is completely chew-proof.
Our beds are designed for everyday comfort and durability, but they are not intended for aggressive chewers or dogs who routinely destroy bedding.
Damage caused by chewing, digging, scratching or other pet behavior is not considered a manufacturing defect.
If your dog is prone to chewing bedding, we recommend supervising them with their new bed until you're comfortable with how they use it.
Why does my bed look compressed when it arrives?
Some of our bed inserts may be compressed for more efficient shipping. This helps us reduce unnecessary packaging and shipping volume while getting your bed safely to your door.
After unpacking, fluff and reshape the insert and allow approximately 24–48 hours for it to fully expand and settle into its intended shape.
You can help redistribute the fill by gently fluffing and rotating the insert with your hands.
Can I machine wash the bed inserts?
No. We do not recommend machine washing our bed inserts, as washing may damage the insert or affect the shape and distribution of the fill.
For everyday cleaning, we recommend spot cleaning the affected area and allowing the insert to dry completely before placing it back inside the cover.
For the best results, use the removable, machine-washable cover as your primary layer for regular cleaning and follow the care instructions provided for your specific bed.
Do you repair zippers or damage caused by chewing?
We do not currently offer repair services for chewed zippers or other damage caused by pet behavior.
For minor zipper or seam repairs, we recommend contacting a local seamstress or upholstery professional. Having the repair completed locally can often be faster and avoids the cost and environmental impact of shipping the entire bed back and forth.
If you're unsure whether your bed can be repaired or whether a replacement cover or insert would be a better option, contact our team and we'll be happy to help you determine the best next step.
Do Jax & Bones fabrics contain added flame retardants?
Jax & Bones carefully selects fabrics with both pets and the home in mind. Our fabrics are designed for everyday use and washability, and we do not intentionally add flame-retardant treatments to our fabrics.
We work closely with our textile suppliers and evaluate materials for quality, performance and applicable safety requirements.
For questions about a specific fabric or material, please contact our team.
Orders & Shipping
How long will it take to receive my order?
Most in-stock items ship within 3-5 business days.
Because some of our bedding is produced in small batches, availability and production times may vary by style, size and fabric.
Products currently in production or being replenished may require up to 14 business days before shipment.
Once shipped, delivery typically takes 2–6 business days depending on your location.
How do I track my order?
Once your order ships, you'll receive a shipping confirmation email with tracking information.
Please allow up to 24 hours for the carrier's tracking information to update after your shipping confirmation is sent.
If your tracking information hasn't updated after that time or you have questions about your shipment, please contact our team.
Can I modify or cancel my order?
Because orders begin processing quickly, modifications or cancellations cannot be guaranteed once an order has been placed.
If you need assistance, please contact jbpack@jaxandbones.com as soon as possible and our team will do our best to help.
