Sustainability isn't a new idea at Jax & Bones. It's something we've been thinking about for nearly as long as we've been making products for dogs.

We believe one of the most meaningful ways to make a more responsible product is simple: choose materials thoughtfully, make it well and design it to last.

For us, that thinking started with what goes inside our beds and has grown into a broader philosophy about how products are designed, cared for and kept in our homes.

Home of the Original EcoBed™

Years ago, Jax & Bones began looking for a more thoughtful way to fill our dog beds.

The result was the Original EcoBed™, made with our signature fiber fill created from recycled plastic bottles.

The recycled material is processed and transformed into soft, supportive fiber that provides the loft and cushioning dogs love while giving existing materials a second life.

Each EcoBed™ uses fiber made from the equivalent of approximately 8–12 recycled plastic bottles.

It's a simple idea that has stayed with us: thoughtful design can bring together comfort, quality and more responsible material choices.

Made to Be Loved Longer

But sustainability isn't only about what goes into a product.

It's also about how long it gets to be loved.

That's why many Jax & Bones beds are designed with removable, machine-washable covers and replaceable inserts so a worn cover or well-loved insert doesn't always mean replacing the entire bed.

Over the years, we've heard from customers who have enjoyed their Jax & Bones beds for many years, refreshing covers or inserts along the way.

We think that's something worth designing for.

Materials Matter

Our roots in textiles and upholstery have always influenced the way we think about materials.

From upholstery-grade fabrics to the fiber inside our beds, we consider how materials feel, how they perform, how they wash and how they hold up to everyday life.

Because beautiful design is only part of the story.

Our products also have to live with real dogs, in real homes, every day.

Designed for Real Life

Dogs sleep, stretch, shed, dig, lounge and make themselves completely at home.

So we think beyond how a product looks on the first day.

Can the cover be washed?
Can a component be replaced?
Will the fabric hold up to everyday life?
Is it something worth keeping?

Those little decisions are part of the way we design.

Because sustainability and durability often begin with the same idea:

Always Looking Forward

We don't believe sustainability is about claiming perfection. 

It's about continuing to make thoughtful choices using recycled materials where they make sense, selecting materials with longevity in mind, designing replaceable components and continuing to look for ways to reduce unnecessary waste.

Materials and manufacturing will continue to evolve and so will we. 

But the idea behind the Original EcoBed™ remains the same- make products that are worthy of looking beautiful and long lasting in your home.
